Class Descriptions

A Bevy of Birds – Instructor Cathy Parker

Time to put your love of birds to the needle. We will be working up a variety of our feathered friends using traditional piecing techniques and using your flair for design to create your own flock.  This is not paper pieced.  I ran across the free 2013 pattern from Block Lotto and have expanded the flock of birds to different sizes and shapes. Precutting instructions will be sent to participants.

Class Type: Traditional piecing

Skill Level: Confident Beginner/Intermediate.

Additional Cost: $5.00 pattern provided by instructor

Chain of Events – Instructor KC Howell

Two pieced triangles units, a four patch, and some flying geese combine to create the illusion of curves without sewing a single curved seam.  Two rulers, Creative Grids Ultimate Flying Goose Tool and a “Tri Rec” ruler make the piecing fool proof and easy peasy. This project looks good in both scrappy and coordinated prints. The student will have a choice of using the Creative Grids 2 Peaks in 1, EZ Quilting Tri Recs Triangle Ruler or Lazy Girl Design Lazy Angle Ruler for the “Tri Rec” ruler.

Skill Level: Confident Beginner

Class Type: Piecing

Additional Costs: $5.00 pattern from instructor

Jelly Roll Sampler – Instructor Carolyn Brown

Students will turn one jelly roll and one yard of accent fabric into a sampler quilt using 2” x 4” and 6” blocks. It is built medallion style and finishes at 46” x 58”.

Skill Level: Confident Beginner

Class Type: piecing

Additional Costs: none

Over and Under – Instructor Debbie Cattell

Over and Under is a modern and scrap friendly design that features a crisp white/solid/neutral background with contrasting colored print squares. It is designed for quick construction using jelly roll precuts (or 2 1/2” x 4 ½” units). It features a woven look, ideal for highlighting bold fabrics. Pattern is to make a 61 ½” x 61 ½” quilt. If you want a larger quilt, make sure you are purchasing enough fabric/jelly rolls.

Skill Level: Confident Beginner/Intermediate.

Class Type: piecing

Additional Cost: none

Paws and Prints: Betsy’s Whimsical Getaway Companions – Instructor Besty Bauman

Meet Coco and Chanel, the pretty cats, along with ruff and ready pups Digby, Winston, and Bertie! These raw-edge applique designs by Betsy were created just for the 2027 NEORQC Getaway. Each character starts on a foundation, gets a friendly blanket stitch, and is then simply applied to the background. Want options? Coose one adorable animal – or mix and match to create your own design. Dig through your stash for black and white scraps and playful prints to sew up your whimsical pet quilt

Skill Level: Confident Beginner

Class Type: Raw edge Pictorial Applique

Additional Costs: $20.00 cat pattern, $25.00 dog patten, both patterns $40.00 from instructor
