2026 Getaway General Information
REGISTRATION AND CHECK-IN IS ON FRIDAY, FEBRUARY 20TH
- The hotel check-in for your sleeping room begins at 3:00 p.m. The hotel may accommodate you earlier if rooms are available. The hotel will require a credit card for incidentals from you and/or your roommate. Don’t worry, you will not be charged for the room or room tax. If you are checking in on Thursday, please let the Getaway Chair and/or the Registrar know by noting it on your registration form. When you make your Thursday reservation, mention the NORQC Getaway and you will be able to receive the Getaway rate ($105.00 plus tax) and it will also count towards our contract room requirements.
- The NEORQC Welcome Registration Table will be located in the lower floor hotel lobby and staffed beginning at 10:00 a.m. Be sure to sign in, pick up your name tag, schedule, and your t-shirt (if ordered).
- Your name tag will be required for admission to your classroom and dining room. It will also help your teacher and other attendees with a way to remember your name.
- All the classrooms, open sew, vendors, and the dining room are located on the lower level of the hotel. All NEORQC functions will occur on this floor. On the south side of the hotel (left side of the building from the main entrance) is a door that opens to the lower level. This is also where you will want to park your vehicle. The hotel has proposed to have staff to assist with unloading.
- You may set up and sew in your classroom any time after 10:00 a.m. It may be sooner, however, check at the registration table to see if your classroom is open. This will be based on when the hotel has finished the room set-up. IF YOU SET UP PRIOR TO APPROVAL, YOU WILL BE ASKED TO LEAVE THE AREA WITH YOUR EQUIPMENT AND SUPPLIES.
- The full schedule will be listed on the website and will be included in your program.
- The Getaway Committee members will be available to assist you and answer any questions.
CLASSROOM COURTESY
- We have tried to ensure that everyone has sufficient space for their sewing needs as is reasonable in a conference setting. There will be a table space for each attendee.
- YOU CAN NOT SAVE TABLES/SPACES FOR OTHERS!! Please do not make the committee police the sewing rooms.
- For those that feel the need to bring additional table extensions for sewing or ironing; they MUST fit within your own sewing space. They cannot extend into your neighbor’s space and cannot be placed at the end of your table into the aisle-way (fire safety hazard). Please select a table space against the wall so as not to impair your neighbor’s access or the teacher’s ability to walk around the room to offer help.
- If you use a sports wagon to transport your supplies, please store it in your sleeping room when not in use. Classrooms do not have space for them. Please do not make the classroom a storage space, be courteous to others.
- If your sewing machine is new to you, please familiarize yourself with how to use it before class. Keep your instruction manual handy. While teachers may be able to guide you to the best settings and help with incidental glitches during class, they cannot be expected to know or spend time on the operation of your sewing machine.
- Put your name on all of your supplies: rulers, mats, scissors, power-strips, etc.
- For those that like to display/arrange your project assembly in-progress on the wall, please use ONLY ScotchBlueTM Painter’s Tape or equivalent to protect against damage to the walls. Do not use regular masking tape and do not use pins.
SHOW AND TELL:
- Friday Dinner will be the 2025 Getaway project Show and Tell. Please bring your finished project from 2025 getaway for show and tell. All individuals that participate will be entered for a drawing.

REMEMBER TO BRING:
Bring these items as needed for your weekend of quilting, relaxation, and fun. Check with your instructor if you have any questions about additional supplies that may be needed.
- A positive and friendly attitude.
- Your project materials!
- Sewing machine in good working order and manual.
- Machine cord and pedal (important)!!
- Bring your own multi-outlet power strip and extension cord.
- Standard ‘stuff’ – pins, seam ripper, thread, thread snips or small scissors, extra bobbins, sewing machine needles, etc.
- Quarter-inch foot if you are piecing in your class. A walking foot and darning foot if you will be quilting in your class.
- Rotary cutters, new replacement blades, rulers, and mats.
- Flannel backed tablecloth to use as design wall (optional).
- Iron and pressing mat (optional). Common-use irons/boards can be brought from your hotel room. They must be returned prior to the end of the Getaway.
- Small travel irons work well for most classes.
- Pads must be heavy and designed for ironing. A soft blanket is insufficient to protect the table surface.
- Additional working light (optional).
- Stay comfortable. Bring a light jacket or sweater. One person is always freezing while another is burning up, so come with layers.
The teachers have contacted attendees with class instructions. Remember to continue checking the website for updates.
The Getaway Committee looks forward to seeing all of you and providing another successful event.
See you soon.
